Free Time

This is not something most people have a lot of, myself included. Most of my time is spent in my classroom, teaching lessons, in the gym or doing necessary tasks. The past two days though I was able to sneak in a couple ground work sessions with Ozzy and Mardi, due to cancelled lessons or getting home earlier than planned. My main goal for Ozzy was just to get him a little exercise (the spring grass is not doing him any favors). We include lots of changes of direction and gait for focus (all my commands are given via body language cues). For Mardi, I wanted to assess her readiness for work. I started her on a new "mare" supplement last week and am vigilantly monitoring her for changes. Despite her "boys" calling desperately for her, she was well behaved (she typically likes ground work), focused, and moved very well. We also did lots of direction and gait changes on the line before switching to "at liberty" work, with which she also seemed very happy. I was pleased with her ability to stay connected throughout the session, despite the lack of lunge line. I have included some video from session with both horses. Please forgive the quality of the videos; it is not easy to lunge and film at the same time.
